Munchies Transition

Munchie is transitioning over to raw. Munchie has severe arthritis and was recently diagnosed with heart disease.  We are having an ultrasound done tomorrow to determine exactly what is wrong with his heart.  He is on a bunch of medications, but has decided he no longer needs to eat cat food, so we are making the transition to raw.

Zoey's Mix

So little Miss Zoey (4# chihuahua) is extremely picky when it comes to organs.  So I make her up a mixture of everything she needs for a balanced diet.  I still give her boney meals a couple times a week alternating between rabbit, cornish hens and whole prey mice.  The she gets either chicken, pork, beef, turkey, fish, duck for her other meals that are made into little ice cube shaped cubes.   Zoey loves these little cubes and what she doesn't know is that she eats the organs without problems......won't hurt her :-)  Here is my 'recipe' that I use for her:
14oz meat (beef, chicken, pork, turkey, duck, fish)
4oz beef heart or chicken or rabbit hearts whatever I can find
or 1# Meat
1 oz Liver I use beef or chicken liver.
1 oz Other Secreting Organ kidney, spleen, thymus, pancreas, lung, testicles, or brains.  I mostly used Beef Kidneys as that is what was readily availabe.  I am running low on it so I am going to have to go hunt down some other organs.
1 sardine
1/2 teaspoon ground egg shell
1 raw egg
1 fish oil capsule (1000mg)
2 & 1/2 Vit E (400IU) Capsules

2 oz Vegetables/Blue Berries (I use these as antioxidants for Zoey since she has so many health issues).  I mainly use pumpkin, spinach, broccoli.  Notice if you feed Prey Model Raw, the veggies are usually omitted.  But after research I decided to include this small amount as she needs the antioxidant properties of them.

Here is her meat thawing
I put everything into the Ninja and chop/mix it up.
Here it is portioned out in the cubes.  After they are flash frozen, I put them into snack bags and then into a gallon sized ziplocked labeled with what meat it is.
They are a little more than 1oz per cube, Zoey gets 1 cube twice a day.

My little pro

Ziva our new little Miniature Pinscher is eating raw like a pro, this week I ran out of Cornish Hen and we are squeaky tight on the budget so couldn't go run & get some so had to cut up some chicken thighs and Ziva is eating them like a pro!  She was diagnosed with Ringworm last week, and I really think the Raw and no vaccines is helping her immune system fight it quicker.  My cats took almost 2 months to get over it, her areas are already starting to look better.  GO RAW!

He's Eating My Food!

Just sharing as I thought it turned out really cute...she is enjoying a few licks of my homemade banana 'creamie'.  She LOVED it, Hubby said he's going to buy some doggie popcicle molds and make liver pops or something along those lines lol!

"Mom!  Munchie's eating my dinner!"  Munchie is our little 'piglet' of a cat, he has 6th sense when it comes to food, the tastier the better.  I had just cleaned out Georgies crate and put down a large matt, Munchie was in there, I kicked him out but as soon as he say Georgies dinner he went back in lol!

Mr. Picky Butt!

George is being a picky butt, he is a very sensitive boy, and we 'borrowed' his crate for a few days as one of our cats has a bladder infection and needed to be confined, he doesn't like any changes in his routine so hasn't been eating very well since about Sunday, so I held his chicken leg tonight so he'd eat...the big baby!  I love him to pieces though!

Working her cornish hen leg around

As you can see, Zoey's rash is going away, she's looking great!

Georgie eating some Cornish Hen Ribs, love his expressions!

Georgie investigates his 2nd Beef Kidney piece...he gobbled it up in an instant!  So far they both LOVE the organs I have given them!  YEAH!  That means easy to balance their diet!

Zoey is still having a little eye drainage, but she is improving, her rash/redness on the top of her head is getting better/going away as well, which makes me really happy :-)  She isn't as itchy now either, she hasn't had any antihistamines for 3 days now.

This is good stuff mom!

Georgie, asks what's this?  Smelling a pork piece

You can see the redness on the left side of her face (right side of picture), and the eye drainage on her face.  Hoping it starts to improve soon.

Enjoys her yummy dinner

Work those teeth!

Zoey is going through detox. I know this is what she needs, but I hate seeing her so itchy/and miserable. We are being patient and know that everything will work out for her good & benefit in the long run. I have posted a picture of her 'redness' on her head, she is also more licky/itchy on her front legs.

Georgie enjoying his meal.

Georgie is so fun to watch, he really works the pieces of meat.

Working those teeth!

I LOVE this picture of Zoey!

Zoey's redness, and her left eye is running (staining) more than usual, she's never really had a problem with eye drainage/staining.

Still Going Strong

Well it has been2 & 1/2 weeks since starting raw food for my dogs, and they are doing great on it.  I am really happy with the results so far, Zoey I think is starting to detox all of the buildup from eating kibble for so long.  She is looking a little more red and her eyes are running more.  I know this is what her body needs.  She has a lot more energy and looks a lot more 'vibrant' if that makes sense.

I know it's not a raw picture, but Baby is just too cute not to share...she's about 5 months old

Tackling

Today is the 3rd day with a little bit of pork in addition to their chicken/cornish hens, and BOTH of them absolutely love it, and neither one are having any problems with it.  YEAH!  I am just so happy with how well they are doing wiht Raw Feeding.  Zoey really amazes me how she tackles the food
